Not Your Mother's Oven Mitt

I don't know about you, but I find it impossibly hard to keep myself warm up on the mountain in winter.  Even when I put hand warmers in my gloves, I still manage to lose feeling in my fingers, which makes drinking a cold glass of après beer extremely torturous.  After a year of intense debate, I finally got these puppies.  The price definitely made me sweat a little, but a nice discount helped push me over the snowy edge.  Thanks Radio Boardshop!

My favorite thing about the holidays is finding that perfect gift for your loved ones.  And it always helps to make them laugh a little while you're at it.  Here are some great little items from fredflare.com (one of my favorite sites!)

brooms and wands and horcruxes, oh my!

It's Harry Potter time!!!!!!  I will be standing in line today to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.  I don't know if I'm happier that I get to see Harry Potter today or that I have a husband that totally seems to deal with my dorkitude in stride.  I love you Kenny!

In the meantime, you HAVE to check out this video from the Huffington Post about actual muggles playing Quidditch!  Watch it here!

it's been a while

I've been so proud of myself as of late because I haven't stepped into an Anthropologie store or even peeped at the website in a couple months!  I haven't bought any more bowls or plates or cups!  But... I took a little online peek today and... I need!!!

cake pop lovin'

I have an intense obsession with the site Bakerella, especially her adorable cake pops!  It all started a couple years ago when my friend sent me this link to the most adorable mini pumpkin pies.  For those of you that might remember, I have a love for all things mini.  Understatement.  So I could not have been more excited when I found out Bakerella was debuting her cake pop cookbook!  I'm a little intimidated to try it out for myself, but like the Morimoto cookbook, it will proudly sit on display until I can build up the courage.

movember for women

For the one person out there that doesn't know what Movember is, it's what you get when you combine mustaches, the month of November, and prostate cancer awareness.  Here's a little something from the U.S. Movember site:

"Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st  clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month.  The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men.  Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days."

And for the ladies that want to lend more than just their wallets for Movember, here's a little something colorful for you!

love it, need it

There are no words to describe how much I am swooning over Free People's new November catalog.  This dress in particular is testing all limits of my self control.  I really do try not to buy things for myself around the holidays... but I always fail.  And with this dress tempting me so, I will definitely falter.  I think I know what I'll be wearing for Christmas.

tea time

I randomly walked into a tea store called Teavana the other day and ended up walking out with a 3o pound bag of tea goodness.   I've been wanting a cast iron Japanese tea pot for some time now and finally took the plunge.  And I couldn't resist the cute little cast iron tea cups or tea canisters either.  Over the last few days, my husband and I have replaced our morning cups of coffee with delicious coffee-like cups of mate.  The tea literally smells like coffee!  I'm still baffled, but blissfully zenned out.

Hot Pink Boobies

Last year when my husband and I were in Japan, I spotted these amazing hot pink Electric goggles at a snowboard trade show in Yokohama.  I immediately grabbed hold of my husband's shirt and dragged him to the display.  I don't think I have ever been this drawn to a product ever.  I knew I had to have these!  Months and months went by while I waited for these babies to come out in stores.  And just the other day, not really to my surprise though I was kinda surprised, my husband handed me the box.  And to make it even better, proceeds from the sale of these pink marvels go to Boarding For Breast Cancer!  At the risk of sounding cliche, I'm so ready to hit the slopes!!

Halloween Wedding

One of Ken's oldest friends had his wedding reception the night before Halloween, so fittingly, they made it a costume party.  Everyone was asked to dress in wedding themed costumes, and people did not disappoint!  There were some shotgun wedding duets, famous couples (like batman and robin!), vintage and ghoolish brides and grooms, a duo from Beetlejuice, and of course a couple of fat Hawaiian tourists that just got "Maui'd."  What a fun night!!

A Disney Halloween

I dragged my husband to Disneyland the other day to check out the Halloween festivities at the happiest place on Earth.  I was a little afraid that he'd be bored beyond belief, but luckily he happened to run into one of the greatest skateboarders in the world.... so I think he had a good day!
