A couple days ago, I blogged about the FEED Projects to benefit Japan.  I also found this amazing set from Pottery Barn.  I'm SO getting this!!

waiting sucks

So I'm just sitting at my apartment waiting for that call from my sister - the call that says "You're about to be an auntie.  Get to the hospital!"  Have I ever mentioned that I am a ridiculously impatient person?

Rising Sun

This time last week, the Japanese people were rejoicing in their miraculous Women's World Cup soccer victory.  This win was so desperately needed by the people to help bring a little joy to a country so devastated by disaster.  I spent all week googling images and video of the triumphant team and was overcome by emotion time and time again.

There is still so much we can do to help the people devastated by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.  I just bought these items below from feedprojects.com.

countdown to nephew

So my sis is due any day now.  I can't believe it's been 9 months since she told me!  Where did the time go???  I thought I would be able to control myself when it came to buying stuff for my little nephew... but who was I kidding?  I have absolutely no impulse control, especially when it comes to baby kimonos.  I think I bought my sister three of them.  I can't even remember.  How terrible is that??!!

My worst shopping spree happened at my favorite store, Tortoise General Store.  I have been eyeing these little baby kimonos for years and never had an excuse to buy any... until now... which was probably where the lack of impulse control came from.  Regardless, my little nephew will have the cutest baby photos ever!  Though he has to compete with mine, and not to brag, but I was a pretty darn cute and photogenic baby.  Maybe I'll post a few of my best next week.

I saw this in the Pottery Barn catalogue and got some serious buyers envy.

Tea Rex

This might totally turn me from a coffee drinker to a tea sipper.

more excitement

After all the anticipation of the final installment in the Harry Potter movie franchise, I am happy... and somewhat relieved... to say something other than magic wands and broom sticks made me giddy and jump for nerdy joy this weekend.  This is quite possibly one of the most fantastically whimsical additions to the world of condiments that I have ever seen!  I am the biggest fan of all the extras you put on food, most noticeably BBQ sauce.  My jittery trigger finger is hovering over the purchase button on this puppy... trying to hold on to whatever will power I have... I told myself no more impulse purchases... but... but... I WANT!!!

Part 2

I must say that the worst thing about having my own blog is that it totally and completely reveals the deepest depths of my dorky, spastic, child-like demeanor.  That being said...

At least I'm not 9 1/2 months pregnant, praying and wishing and telling the baby not to come before opening night of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.  Yep, that would be my sister.  I guess it runs in the family.  And if I totally didn't make you roll your eyes yet, I am thinking of ordering my own personalized Hogwarts acceptance letter.

art exhibits are distracting for the blogging soul

I started this blog as an outlet for my creative energy, or at least what I think is creative.  It's actually more like an outlet for my mental spazzitude.  But then this little thing called work got in the way and destroyed any momentum I had in blog posting.  I have so many things I want to cook... oh who am I kidding... I have so many things that I want to eat, and I am so kind of prepared to blog about it.  But since I have NEVER been any good at doing two things at once, this little blog of mine will most likely be neglected for a little while longer.  Our art show is on display at Bowers Museum for a couple more weeks, until July 17th.  If you haven't been yet, I think you should!  Here's a little pic to inspire you.
